MOTHER and DAUGHTER



WITH AWE!  OCTOGENARIAN BODY YOU SERVE ME WELL.(MOTHER my best FRIEND)  ONCE BIG WITH NEW LIFE,YOU NOW WARM TO THE BIRTH OF LEAVES TO THE RUN OF A BROOK AND TO THE SWEET JUICE OF THE GRAPE. (YOU WARM AND GROW WITH AWE FOR ALL THAT BREATHES AND IS<>ON HER BIRTHDAY SHE, COULDN'T SIT STILL; KEPT BUSY BY BEING BUSY, (SHE DARTED HERE ND THERE FILLING GLASSES HANDING OUT FORKS AND PRINTED NAPKINS, AND (HER HEARING AIDE ADJUSTING IT) SHE WOULD TUNE IN TO CRICKETS!(SHE REFUSED TO BE SERVED FIRST, ducking her head like a girl.(USED TO SUCH SERVITUDE, ALL HAPPINESS WAS TINGED WITH GUILT)<>she always new her family loved her and (CHILDREN ADORED HER)<>SHE SAW HERSELF AS AN (OLD WOMAN) but this was her (FIRST BIG SURPRISE PARTY) her daughter planned for her with (FRIENDS, FAMILY and INVITED GUESTS)<>SHE MARVELED AT THE (BIRTHDAY CAKE) SHE WAS THINKING OF DAYS GONE BY AS THE CANDLES WAVERED IN HER GLASSES ON THE BIG (BIRTHDAY CAKE) <>SHE BLEW , BUT one struggled back, climbing it's short rope. (SHE GRINNED, COVERED HER MOUTH with her RINGED HAND, then BLEW it OUT) AS SHE PICKED UP EACH CANDLE, she smoothed the hole it left like the cover of a bed. ((SHE LIKE THE SILENCE OF EATING WAS (THE LAST TO FINISH)<>HER PRESENTS LAY ON A (CARD TABLE)  embarrassed by their loud colors, bows floppy as OLD FASHIONED HATS. (WHEN IT CAME TIME TO OPEN THEM)she untied the red bows, knotted as her HAPPY CONFUSION),>SHE COULDN'T LOOK UP!(The first was a cotton cardigan with wooden buttons, then a milkglass vase for her roses.  a purple short-sleeved blouse with ruffles.<>SHE HELD EACH UP! as if at an auction<>SHE WASN't SURE WHAT SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO DO NEXT and said This is so nice, (OVER & OVER you really shouldn't have!!! SHE was in AWE!!!!
