NEW ENGLAND BAKED BEANS ( with SOLDIER BEANS)





BAKED BEANS with SOLDIER BEANS<>2 LBS. (SOLDIER BEANS<>1 MEDIUM ONION ,chopped<>1 LB. (LEAN SALT PORK)<>1/4 CUP BROWN SUGAR<>1- 1 1/2 CUP DARK MAPLE SYRUP<>(GRADE B or C) more if the SYRUP is not strong or if you like SWEETER BEANS<>1 TEASPOON SODA<>1 1/2 TEASPOON SALT<>1/4 TEASPOON PEPPER<>1 TEASPOON DRY MUSTARD<>WASH (BEANS thoroughly.<> SOAK (OVERNIGHT in PLENTY OF WATER.<>POUR off WATER and let (COME to a BOIL in NEW WATER with 1 TEASPOON SODA<>POUR off SODA WATER<>PARBOIL in clean water until they begin to SOFTEN<>POUR off WATER AGAIN<>PUT IN 3 QUART (BEAN POT) with other INGREDIENTS<>BAKE IN SLOW TO MEDIUM OVEN,@ 350 degrees F<> To be REALLY GOOD they can.t be RUSHED and REQUIRE approximately 8 HOURS,,.IT is necessary to check and ADD WATER as NEEDED, so BEANS won't dry out!    (TASTY, WONDERFUL!!!!
