LEMON (DATE and NUT BREAD)





DATE BREAD<>6 TABLESPOONS BUTTER<>1 CUP GRANULATED SUGAR<>2 EGGS,beaten<><><>1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR<>1 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER<>1/2 TEASPOON SALT<>1/2 CUP MILK<>GRATED RIND of 1 LEMON<>1/2 CUP WALNUTS, chopped<>1/2 CUP chopped DATES<>CREAM BUTTER and SUGAR, ADD BEATEN EGGS<>SIFT DRY ingredients and ADD to creamed mixture alternately with MILK<>ADD LEMON rind and WALNUTS and DATES<>POUR BATTER into BUTTERED LOAF TIN<<BAKE at 325 degrees F. for 1 hour and 5 minutes<>WHEN LOAF comes from OVEN (POUR over it 1/2 CUP SUGAR dissolved in the WARMED JUICE of 1 LEMON)<><><>DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS!!!!
