MANY SPECIES OF WATER FOWL DEPEND ON THEM AS NESTING PLACES<> (CATTAIL AND THE COMMON BULLRUSH GROW IN STILL< SOMETIMES< STAGANT WATER. ( SOME FORAGERS GET EXCITED WHEN YOU MENTION CATTAIL,<>CATTAIL OFFERS TWO ADVANTAGES,<>( it is an extremely rich source of starch and it is avaliable all year long.<><> YOU CAN EAT EVERYTHING BUT IT'S LEAVES.<><>( I remember my mother using the root of the CATTAIL, boil it down prepare it and make pulled taffy, ( one other is a recipe for a cattail casserole. (THE CATTAIL AND COMMON BULL RUSH PLANT ARE ALSO USED FOR DECORATIVE PIECES).!!!!!!!!!!
